Camellia oil is derived from the seed of the fruit of the camellia tree. According to the test, unsaturated fatty acids in camellia oil are as high as 90%, oleic acid reaches 80-83%, linoleic acid reaches 7-13%, but the content of linolenic acid is very low.
Camellia oil press can be physically pressed by screw oil press. The high instantaneous pressing temperature of the oil in the press chamber has an impact on both the oil and the cake. For example, the impurities of camellia oil are more and the color is darker, which reduces the refining rate of camellia oil. Therefore, the technology of spiral oil pressing requires that the tea seeds be husked.
The key process quality control points of high temperature pressing method are husking, steaming and pressing. In the husking process, after thousands of baked camellia seeds (moisture content of 12%14%), enter the camellia seed husking machine to break the shell, then carry out wind separation, kernel shell separation; In the steaming process, the water and temperature of camellia seeds should be adjusted, and the water content of camellia seeds should be controlled at about 3%, and the pressing temperature should reach 110~120°C; In the pressing process, through continuous physical pressing, the camellia oil is released uninterrupted from the press.
The advantages of mechanical pressing method are simple and flexible process, strong adaptability, low cost, less investment, and no solvent residue in pressed oil, but the oil yield of camellia seed is not high, because of the high content of reducing sugar, total sugar and starch in camellia seed kernel, Maillard reaction is easy to occur when pressing oil to deepen the color of the oil, thereby increasing the amount of active clay in the decolorization process. In addition, because the raw materials of the mechanical pressing method need to be steamed or baked heat treatment, the protein will be denatured, the comprehensive utilization value of the cake meal after oil extraction decreases, and the residual oil rate in the slag is high, and it still needs to be leached by solvent
