Oil Production Process

raw material → hulling → impurity removal → drying → crushing →softening pressed embryo → pressing →crude oil → precipitation → filtering → (refining→) refined oil

To extract Moringa seed oil, we need to remove the hard outer shell of the seeds by peeling them off before pressing. The extraction process usually involves cleaning the seeds first before using a sheller to remove the shells. Next, a screw press is utilized to press the seeds while an oil filter filters the oil to obtain pure, physically-pressed oil. There are two common pressing techniques: cold pressing and hot pressing. Cold pressing, in particular, is the method required to create Moringa seed oil. This technique preserves the presence of antioxidant substances in the oil, which assist in its stability and prevent spoilage. Subcritical extraction is not commonly employed in making Moringa seed oil owing to its lack of nutritional value and complicated preparation process.

The oil produced by pressing Moringa seeds is a highly nutritious edible oil with similar nutrient profiles as corn germ oil, peanut oil, and olive oil. Though Moringa seed oil is obtained through the use of oil press equipment, it typically appears darker and contains more impurities compared to refined Moringa seed oil with higher nutritional value. This oil is commonly used in the cosmetic industry, as well as in the lubrication of precision machinery under specific conditions. Depending on the intended use of Moringa seed oil, we can select the appropriate grade to best suit our needs.
