In the first five months of 2025, Russia's total vegetable oil exports are estimated at 2.72 million tons, down 19% from the same period last year.
In the first five months of this year, Russia's sunflower oil exports amounted to 1.87 million tons, down 25% year-on-year. Sunflower oil is Russia's largest export vegetable oil, accounting for more than 68% of total exports. The main buyers are Turkey (456,000 tons) and India (402,000 tons).
In the same period, Russia's soybean oil exports amounted to 227,000 tons, down 38% year-on-year, and the main importers were Algeria (100,000 tons) and India (78,000 tons).
In the same period, rapeseed oil exports increased to 624,000 tons, up 26% year-on-year. More than 88% of them were shipped to China.
Analysts explained that the continued decline in sunflower oil exports is due to reduced domestic processing, as high raw material prices have led to long-term negative profits.
From January to May this year, Russia's total oilseed meal exports amounted to 1.65 million tons, down 10% from the same period last year.
Among them, sunflower meal exports amounted to 1.1 million tons, down 7% year-on-year. The main buyers were Turkey (449,000 tons) and Belarus (301,000 tons).
Total soybean meal exports during the same period were 221,000 tons, down 52% from the same period in 2024. The main importers were Belarus (76,000 tons) and Uzbekistan (44,000 tons).
Rapeseed meal exports during the same period were 329,000 tons, up 85% from January-May 2024. The main buyers included China (221,000 tons) and Turkey (33,000 tons).
