Corn germ is a kind of product during the operation of corn processing equipment; generally, there are three common methods of embryo extraction: semi-wet embryo extraction, wet embryo extraction and dry embryo extraction.
1.Wet embryo extraction: soak the corn in a large amount of water containing sulfurous acid, then grind and degerminate it, and use a cyclone separator to separate the relatively complete germ. This method is generally used by the starch industry and the glucose industry to produce 100% germ. Starch with purity above 90%.
Methods for separating corn embryos: The main methods for separating corn embryos include dry peeling, embryo extraction and flour milling, and wet grinding, embryo extraction and flour milling. The raw materials are directly peeled and embryonated to make flour without moistening treatment, which is also called dry peeling and embryonating. Generally, it can be used when the moisture content of the grain is about 18%, but the processing loss is large; the wet grinding method to extract the embryo and make flour is to soak the seeds and then peel the embryo to extract the flour. The production process is:
(1) Soaking: The selected seeds are first soaked in sulfur dioxide solution for 40-60 hours. The soaking barrel is generally a stainless steel barrel with a diameter of 5-6 meters and a height of 12-15 meters.
(2) Crushing and separation of embryos: The soaked corn kernels have softened and the tissue components are loose. After being crushed by a grinder or crusher, water is added through the embryo separation tank to make the embryos float on the water and the embryos are separated. The use of embryo separation tanks is a traditional technology in my country, but the highest separation rate is only 85%, and the separation efficiency is low. Larger processing plants in Russia and my country all use cyclones for separation, and the embryo separation rate can reach more than 95%. .
2.Dry degermination: Dry degermination refers to the direct degermination and slag breaking of corn within 15% of the safe moisture content, and then the corn embryo is extracted after one or more embryo pressings. Currently, the dry corn embryo extraction technology has There are two types of corn co-production embryo extraction technology and corn simple dry embryo extraction technology.
Corn embryo extraction and milling process: Corn embryo extraction and milling is a processing technology that simultaneously produces corn flour and corn embryo during corn processing.
Corn co-production refers to the corn processing technology that simultaneously extracts corn grits, corn embryos and various corn flours during the processing of corn deep processing equipment.
3.Semi-wet embryo extraction: This process uses the difference in water absorption between corn germ and endosperm, the difference in elasticity, toughness and crushing strength after water absorption to separate the germ and achieve the purpose of separating the embryo.
Use corn processing equipment to crush, peel and degerminate the corn, and then use the differences in particle size, specific gravity and suspension speed of the embryo, endosperm and husk to separate pure endosperm (containing embryo ≤ 1.2%) and embryo, endosperm mixture. The mixture is graded by air gravity, then the embryos are flattened, and the embryos are separated through sieving to extract pure endosperm.
To put it simply, the process of semi-wet embryo extraction in corn processing equipment is roughly divided into: corn → cleaning (removing impurities, stones and iron) → moistening and tempering with water vapor → peeling and slag breaking → 3 embryo pressing → 3 grading → 3. Lift the embryo and suck air → peel → sift the powder.
